Honoring Black History Month

For Black History Month 2024, San Francisco Community Health Center is taking on the theme of “Seeing Us.”

The Black Diaspora is made up of a diverse and far-reaching cultural tapestry—a rich story filled with beauty, triumph, adversity, and resilience. Whether it be the coasts of the African continent, Caribbean islands, or the Americas, these experiences have shaped the Black Diaspora.

And at a time where Black History is being both minimized and revised, it is imperative now more than ever to honor the collective impact of the Black Diaspora both here and across the globe.

Seeing us is the first step in allyship with the Black community. When you see us, it opens the door for empathy, solidarity, and movement building. To see us, is to hear us. To see us, is to understand us. To see us, is to stand with us.

As you go through the month of February, we encourage you to make an active effort to SEE the Black Community and do your part to fight for a world where EVERYONE, regardless of background, can thrive.

For additional information on the origins and impact of Black History Month, we invite you to check out the Association for the Study of African American Life & History.

And SAVE THE DATE for two events happening in the San Francisco Bay Area that we hope to see you at:
