SNAP (CalFresh) Emergency Resources

The following are resources to address the disruption of SNAP due to the government shutdown.
For residents enrolled in SNAP (CalFresh) in San Francisco:
The city is stepping in to cover the expected shortfall in SNAP (CalFresh) funding through the month of November by providing a digital or physical prepaid card to be used at grocery stores and anywhere that accepts these benefits.
You should anticipate receiving a letter (example letter linked) with a QR-code with instructions on how to use a digital or physical pre-paid (EBT) card that will be loaded with funds usable city-wide.
Please be sure your address is up to date. If you have questions about the status of your address on file, please call the SF Human Services Agency (HSA) at 1-855-355-5757.
If you have no address or are utilizing general delivery, your letter will be sent to: 391 Ellis Street, San Francisco California, 94102 at Jones Street.

Project Open Hand
Project Open Hand Community Nutrition Program serves meals at 10 sites around the city, from Mon-Fri
Breakfast + lunch at 2 sites, lunch-only at 8 sites around the city
730 Polk site is lunch-only and it's served from 10:30am-12:30pm
Other sites include Curry Senior Center, Downtown Senior Center (both serve breakfast +lunch) and Stanford Hotel (lunch-only)
All sites serve hot food, most sites offer to-go food if people would prefer not to dine-in
It's first-come, first serve
Depends on the day and the menu whether they run out of food. Encourage people to go on the earlier side
This program is for seniors + people with disabilities aged 18-59. However, they do not turn anyone away and they do not require proof of disability. It's encouraged to bring an ID for age verification purposes, but not required.
They do not need to have SFHP
They do not need to fill out an intake form unless they plan to go regularly (every week). So the first time they can just show up and get meals
There is a $2 suggested contribution, but it is optional
GLIDE
The Daily Free Meals program has no eligibility requirements. Clients are not required to complete an intake form prior to receiving a meal.

Lunch: 11:30 – 1:00 pm (including Sat & Sun)
Dinner: 4:00 – 5:00 pm (Mon – Sun)
